# Obsidian Configuration Tutorial

Cherry Studio supports integration with Obsidian, allowing you to export a full conversation or a single conversation into an Obsidian vault.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This process does not require installing any additional Obsidian plugins. However, because the principle Cherry Studio uses to import into Obsidian is similar to Obsidian Web Clipper, it is recommended that users upgrade Obsidian to the latest version (the current Obsidian version should be at least greater than **1.7.2**), to avoid[import failures caused by overly long conversations](https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-clipper/releases/tag/0.7.0).
{% endhint %}

## Latest tutorial

{% hint style="info" %}
Compared with the old version of exporting to Obsidian, the new export to Obsidian feature can automatically select the vault path, no longer requiring manual input of the vault name or folder name.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1: Configure Cherry Studio

Open Cherry Studio's*Settings* → *Data settings* → *Obsidian configuration*menu. In the drop-down box, the names of Obsidian vaults previously opened on this machine will automatically appear; select your target Obsidian vault:

### Step 2: Export the conversation

#### Export full conversation

Return to the conversation interface in Cherry Studio, right-click the conversation, and select*Export*, then click*Export to Obsidian*:

<figure><img src="/files/a6b1b2ae0a5aeae9c8f33011902a5ebb6aeaa05d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

A window will pop up at this point for adjusting the **Properties,**&#x70;laced in Obsidian**folder location**and the one exported to Obsidian**processing method:**

* **vault**: click the drop-down menu to choose another Obsidian vault
* **path**: click the drop-down menu to choose the folder where the exported conversation note will be stored
* As Obsidian note properties (Properties):
  * tags
  * creation time (created)
  * source (source)
* The**processing method**has the following three options:
* The**processing method**has the following three options:
  * **Create new (overwrite if it exists)**: In**path**filled in at the`folder you downloaded and extracted` create a new conversation note there; if a note with the same name exists, the old note will be overwritten
  * **Front matter**: In the case that a note with the same name already exists, export the selected conversation content and add it to the beginning of that note
  * **Append**: In the case that a note with the same name already exists, export the selected conversation content and add it to the end of that note

{% hint style="info" %}
Only the first method will include Properties, the latter two will not include Properties.

After selecting all options, click OK to export the full conversation to the corresponding folder in the corresponding Obsidian vault.

#### Export a single conversation

For exporting a single conversation, click the*three-line menu*, then select*Export*, then click*Export to Obsidian*:

After that, a window similar to the one for exporting the full conversation will also pop up, asking you to configure**note properties**and**note handling method**, and just follow[the tutorial above](#dao-chu-wan-zheng-dui-hua)to complete it.

### Export successful

🎉 At this point, congratulations on completing all the configuration for Cherry Studio integration with Obsidian, and on going through the entire export process. Enjoy yourselves!

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cherry-ai.com/docs/en-us/pre-basic/data-settings/obsidian.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
